Right now, I’m working at a supermarket, so I make about enough money to feed a hamster. But I would like to know
how much money would be enough for me to live on.

Well, unless you have roommates, apartments there are not cheap. A one bedroom is around $850 / month in a decent place.
Try farther north if you want to live in Florida…South FL is getting very expensive…!! I know, I just left there!

If you mean “South Beach”, figure on spending a fortune to live. On the other hand, if you’re willing to live out in the boondocks, you can find places down there that are very cheap to live (and equally boring). I’d say you could get by in Arcadia or Englewood on $12000 per year. South Beach might require 3 times that.

I suggest you to save half your income until you have saved enough for a down payment for your house.
I also suggest you to get a second job.
